Steven is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of the Canadian Institute ofActuaries. Prior to his retirement in 2016, he served as President and CEO of General ReLife Corporation, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway, where he headed the group’sDecision Analytics (Big Data / Predictive Modelling) initiative.

Prior to joining Gen Re, Steven was the Executive Vice President and General Manager ofManulife Reinsurance with responsibility for all aspects of Manulife’s reinsurancebusiness worldwide. In 2001, he was key to Manulife’s acquisition of 1.5 millionin-force policies from Daihyaku Mutual of Japan and the significant expansion ofManulife’s Japanese operations. Prior to joining Manulife, Steven was a Principal ofTowers Perrin responsible for global client relationships and senior pension fundconsulting. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he earned a Bachelorof Mathematics.
